Questions are based on the following passage.
For years, scientists believed that human brain development was completed by the time we were 10 or 11. Recent studies, however, show that during our teenage years, our brain is still maturing in important ways. When we’re teenagers, our decision-making ability is developing and we’re learning to make good choices. At the same time, we’re more likely than ever to take risks. Is this normal? Scientists who study the brain say “yes”. In fact, they believe that risk-taking and our “irrational” behaviors may actually help teens to become successful adults.
Take, for example, the teenager’s love of thrills. We all like new and exciting things, but never as much as we do during our teenage years. During this time of our lives, scientists say, our brains produce chemicals that can lead to dangerous behaviors, and it can also produce positive ones. Taking risks and trying new things may be challenging or even dangerous, but this behavior can also lead to useful experiences that will benefit us as adults.
Scientists also find there is an intense need for peer (同龄人) approval among teenagers. We enter a world made by our parents. But we will live most of our lives and succeed in a world run by our peers. Therefore, it is important that we are accepted and respected by our peers, even if it means taking some risks to fit it.

Questions are based on the following passage.
Gap year is an English expression referring to a period of time—not necessarily a year —in which students take time off and do something other than schooling, such as travel or work. The year out is most commonly taken after high school and before starting university. However, over recent years there has been an increase in 21-23-year-olds taking a year out after completing their degree.
The practice of taking a gap year developed in the United Kingdom in the 1960s. During this time, a student might travel, engage in volunteer work overseas or undertake a working holiday abroad. A year out has grown very popular among students in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. A trend for a year out is to participate in international education programs that combine language study, cultural immersion, community service, and independent study.
Taking a gap year can be an ideal option. The added benefits of wherever you go and whatever you do during your gap year are that you will most likely make new, interesting friends, and you could have experiences that will last a lifetime. Today, this term is popular no longer just among students but also among those who wish to take a year off between life stages, and to spend some time traveling around, exploring and learning from different people and cultures, as well as volunteering at the place where they are traveling.

Questions are based on the following passage.
Searching for love is no longer just a favorite subject for songs. It has also become a huge industry. Researchers say the online dating (约会,求偶) industry in the United States earned 649 million dollars in 2006. They expect this number to increase to more than 900 million dollars by 2011.
Researchers say that the industry has grown because traditional social ties in the United States have weakened, which can be reflected by the following two aspects. On the one hand, many young people leave their friends and family to find work in bigger cities. On the other hand, people work longer hours and have less time to meet new people. So they depend increasingly on technology. This helps explain the popularity of online dating. Some estimates say 120,000 marriages a year result from matches made on the Internet.
The dating industry has also been expanding in new and interesting ways. Many companies around the country offer personalized (个性化的) services for finding the perfect mate. For example, one online dating company in Virginia provides single people with advice on how to meet a person for the first time and make a good impression. These companies are answering a large demand by single people. They are willing to invest their time and money to find love with carefully planned methods, instead of leaving love to chance.

上纲上线 be magnified and overanalyzed
