China has completed its BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), becoming the fourth country in the world with a global navigation network.
As the name suggests, the global navigation satellite system provides navigation and location services on a 24-hour basis. From what we know so far, building a sound satellite system costs a bundle. Besides, the other systems of BDS are already well-established. So, what makes China’s BDS stand out among its competitors?
Firstly, the BDS has more satellites. In addition to the 24 satellites in medium earth orbit (MEO), the BDS constellation also has three satellites in geostationary earth orbit (GEO) and three in inclined geosynchronous orbit (IGSO). What’s special about the six extra satellites is that they have a relatively fixed range of activity. This layout can enhance the accuracy of BDS in China and the Asia- Pacific region to five meters, in comparison with a ten-meter accuracy in other areas.
Secondly, the BDS has a trump card—the short message service. This is a function that allows users to have two-way communication. In uninhabited areas not covered by cellular or communication signals, such as deserts, forests, mountainous and polar regions, the BDS can make the short message service available. With this service, users in distress can inform the rescue team about their location and condition. As a densely populated country, China needs to have its own global navigation satellite system to meet the needs of the country’s socioeconomic development.
In fact, the BDS is also good business. The country’s satellite industry has maintained steady annual growth. The BDS contributes a great part of it. The system has also generated tens of billions of dollars, countless high-paying jobs and stimulated economic growth via big contracts in commercial industries. With improvements in functions, it will have much more to offer in the future.
Science and technology innovations are always at the foundation of China’s development and the growth of its national strength.
No matter what project a team is working on, the best thing to do at the beginning is to search for more information. This way, the project is more likely to succeed. It is said that many hands make light work. When the whole team work together, surely they can gather more information than just one person. On the other hand, members of the team may have different backgrounds, so they look at things from different angles and the information they gather can cover more aspects.
Teamwork can help form the right perspective
Each person has his or her own perspective and can look at things more subjectively. This may lead to failure when a person thinks alone. When people discuss things in a team, the result may be less subjective and the team is more possible to succeed.
Teamwork enables people to consider things comprehensively
A person’s thinking often has its limitations. However, teamwork can make up for this. As each member of the team may have different backgrounds, different levels of education, different experiences and so on, they consider things from different angles and more details will be taken into consideration. Naturally. teamwork is more comprehensive.
Different people play different roles
In the world, no two persons are exactly the same. Different people are good at different things. Some people are good at communicating with others, some people are good at accounting, some people are good at planning, etc. A team needs people of different abilities because different people can play different roles. If these people work together harmoniously, they are more possible to succeed.
Teamwork can strengthen the sense of responsibility
Often we may find people leave things undone or unfinished because these people may lack a sense of responsibility. However, teamwork may prevent this. As people working in a team need cooperation, they can helpand supervise each other. No one wants to be looked down upon by his or her colleagues. This means that people are more likely to work hard and take responsibility. In conclusion, teamwork can help strengthen the sense of responsibility.
